Current Watersports is an award winning boat dealership headquartered in Kentucky; specializing in the sales and service of MasterCraft Boats, Cobalt Boats and Crest Pontoons. Current Watersports currently has two locations: one in Louisville and the second just south of Cincinnati. Current is the 7th largest MasterCraft dealer in the world and is now opening a new location in Knoxville, TN. Job Summary:

The Service Writer guides the customer through the entire service process from checking them in when they arrive, to hooking their boat up when they leave.  This position completes boat inspections, writes estimates, puts together work orders and invoices, maintains accurate service records, and files warranty claims. They also assist in other departments, as needed.  The Service Writer is a key role in the business greatly affecting the overall success of the company.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates service schedule between customers, service manager, and technicians
  • Completes a detailed 50 point inspection on all boats in for service
  • Provides quotes to customers and upsells when appropriate
  • Gathers all the necessary parts for service work and organizes them for technicians
  • Orders parts, as needed, for service work and for inventory
  • Maintains accurate part inventory levels
  • Writes work orders for technicians
  • Puts together invoices, working with technicians and the service manager as needed
  • Files warranty claims
  • Walks through boat at completion ensuring all work is done and boat is up to par
  • Keeps accurate maintenance records for customers so we can proactively maintain their boats
  • Assists other departments when necessary including the pro shop and sales department
  • Assists the other employees in delivering a clean/detailed boat as needed
  • Occasionally assists with on water boat shows, deliveries, demos, tests, and presentations
  • Assists with winter boat shows
  • Maintains a smooth running & efficient service department resulting in a high degree of customer satisfaction
  • Maintains a neat & clean work environment
  • Reviews work-in-progress to ensure quality and timeliness.
  • Follows procedures for quick & efficient handling of warranty items, including tagging and proper storage of parts

Qualifications & Job Requirements:

  • Must have outgoing, friendly personality and superior communication & customer service skills

  • Ability to negotiate customer complaints to a satisfactory resolution
  • Must be able to efficiently manage one’s time, multi-task, and follow through with tasks to completion
  • Must be a team player and possess strong work ethic
  • Desire to work in a fun and laid back atmosphere yet professional and results driven
  • Basic math skills
  • Easily picks up on Point of Sale software, CRM software, and possesses the ability to proficiently use Microsoft Excel and Word
  • General understanding of mechanical/technical terms or the ability to learn them
  • High school diploma required, bachelor’s degree preferred

Physical Demands:

  • Requires the use of both hands
  • Frequently required to bend, stoop, crouch, reach, and handle tools
  • Ability to climb in and out of boats and crawl underneath them

Working Conditions:

  • Frequently works near moving mechanical parts
  • Is potentially exposed to battery acid, gasoline, chemical cleaning material or other toxic materials commonly found in motor vehicle service departments
  • some of which may be considered health hazards
  • Occasionally exposed to exhaust fumes or other airborne particles
  • Summertime can get hot when working outdoors and requires protection from the sun as needed

Compensation:

Position is full time and the pay is based on experience and ability. Starting pay ranges between $18 and $24 an hour. Benefits include 401k with up to 3% match, bonus opportunities, paid holidays and vacations, along with health insurance with a large portion of it being company paid.
